Ljubljanski Madrigalisti Mixed Chamber Choir celebrated 30 years of activity with many singers on stage on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 7 pm in the hall of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet at Vegova Street 7 in Ljubljana.
Legends are made and made by people, so the concert itself wrote the legend, together with the former conductors who took part in the concert, the former singers in the audience and the spectators who could watch the concert online. With conductor Klara Maljuga, we presented the audience a selection of madrigals from different time periods, some accompanied by pianist Lovro Frelih. And because Ljubljanski Madrigalisti love to perform madrigals, as our name suggests, at the 30th anniversary concert we gave the first performance of a novelty Madrigal for singers, with music written especially for the occasion by Kristina Pustinek Rakar and lyrics by Ambrož Kvartič, a member of the choir. Together with the audience, “the singing overflowed, overflowed, and kneaded the streams of lives that come together in it”, as part of the text of the madrigal says.
Our conductors Primož Malavašič, Mirko Ferlan, Andreja Martinjak, Walter Lo Nigro and the very first conductor of the madrigalists, Matjaž Šček, joined us on stage. The outline of the choir’s history was presented by Simona Moličnik, with whom we managed to digitise and organise our archives. At the end of the concert, together with the former members of the choir, we sang some songs that will always resonate in our memories.
